FAQ
Question: HELP! I received a compliance letter from EWEB, SUB, Rainbow [my water purveyor] citing Oregon statutes and a month-end deadline to test. What should I do?
Once you request backflow testing with us, you don’t need to do anything. We take care of everything and have streamlined the process so you don’t have to give it any thought each year. The first thing we do is notify your water purveyor that you’ve requested testing. Once we do that, it’s on us to get it done. The purveyors can’t always intercept our clients’ letters, but they DO prevent compliance reminders from escalating to enforcement. Don’t worry about the letter or the deadline.
Question: Do I have to wait for you to test before I use my sprinklers?
Question: How often do I have to have the test? I had my first test with you last fall, and you’re testing again this summer?
Answer:
Tests are required once per calendar year. If you requested testing late in the season the prior year, it may not be 12 months between tests the first time. We’re required to complete testing by the end of July each year. However, the water purveyors allow us to test for clients requesting the test off season. The following year it will be completed when we do your neighborhood during our testing months (April – July)
Question: How much does a test cost.
Answer:
This will be tricky if Rob changes per area. If not, link to a price page or have them complete a form – complete later or pull prices from current form/Gen Info page on current site.
Question: Why does TERRA NOVA require the test?
Answer:
We don’t! We merely serve as certified testers to help you ensure compliance. The test is required under Oregon Administrative Rule (AOR 333-061-0070. It requires EWEB/your purveyor to protects public water systems from contamination.
Question: How do I sign up for a backflow test, turn on, or winterizing?
Answer:
Click here [link to Roxy forms]. You’ll receive a confirmation email, we’ll notify your purveyor that you’ve sign up, and we’ll add you to our list.
Question: How do I pay?
Answer:
(All answers on current Payments page)
Question: Do I have to send the report to EWEB/SUB [water purveyors]?
Answer:
Nope. We do it for you. We’ll take care of everything. Aside from paying the invoice, you don’t need to give it any thought each year. We’ll take care of everything for you
Question: How will I receive my invoice?
Answer:
By email. We strive to maintain a low environmental footprint, prioritize digital solutions , and strive to reduce unnecessary printing. (Our testers even conduct most of our Eugene services on a bike.) While we realize some clients will require hard copy invoices, we hope you’ll help us keep them to a minimum.
Question: You tested my backflow and my sprinklers won’t work.
Answer:
We’re required to leave your system the way we find it. If the water was off upon arrival, we have to leave it off after the test. If your sprinklers were on and working prior to the test, let Roxann know. It happens very seldom, but even Terra Nova techs are human – we may have inadvertently left it off. If so, we’ll remedy right away. If not and you need a repair, we have access to reliable irrigation repair companies [listed on our site]
Question: What does your Bundle include & what’s involved in each service? And when do I pay?
Answer:
You’re welcome to prepay, but it’s not required. We bill for services as they’re completed – once in the spring, once in the fall. Backflow test, spring turn on/de-winterizing, and winterizing.
Backflow test: We notify your purveyor that you’re on our list, conduct the test, submit the report to your water purveyor for you, and ensure you’re in compliance each year.
Spring turn on/dewinterizing: We get everything repressurized and turned back on. Your water will be on when we leave. We do NOT go through sprinkler systems, check sprinklers, set timers, etc, but have access to companies who do conduct those services.
Winterizing: We get everything turned off, protected for the season, and leave your water off. We do not blow the system out (not necessary in this area). We can only guarantee the backflow will not be damaged due to freezing. PVC piping cannot be guaranteed. However, if repairs are needed, we will conduct them at a discount for Bundle customers and will install unions and use sch 80 pvc, which greatly reduce the likelihood of future freezing.
